Happy Father's Day !

Great place to be on Father's Day... The baseball field.  Red Hawks were the #3 seed going into today's bracket play.  Yesterday was the tale of two teams.  Game 1 was not much hitting and a little flat on defense as they fell to Purpose Driven Warriors 7-3.  Blake Whitmore hit his second homerun if the season in the loss.

Game two the Red Hawks unleashed the offensive power beating the NC Stars 15-0.  Zane Taylor hit his first homerun of the season with a 3 run shot to left center.  Great pitching and outstanding defense shut down the Stars bats.

This morning the Red Hawks kept the hit parade going by beating the Orange County Cobras 13-3.  A strong pitching performance by Braxton Jenks kept the Cobras off balance at the plate.  Zane Taylor's power surge continued for a second straight game as he connected for a 2 run blast in the 5th.

Next game is at 2pm... The Red Hawks hope to keep the bats hot this afternoon.

Red Hawks Take Runner Up Spot at Beach Tournament

The Red Hawks opened the Memorial Day Weekend tournament with a tough loss but came back to win 3 in a row to earn 2nd place.  It was a round robin format and the only other team that was 3 and 1 was the team that bested the Red Hawks in  game one.  The bats came alive and the defense stepped up which gave confidence to the pitching staff.  The team has a few weekends off and return to diamond Father's Day weekend... Looking forward to it.

Red Hawks Battle Hard and Split 1-1 Sunday

The Red Hawks battled behind excellent pitching on Sunday to come back and beat Carolina Venom 4-2 in extra innings.  The defense was outstanding and the hitting came through at the right time.

In the semi-final game the Red Hawks came up short against the South Wake Storm 3-1.  The game was closer than even the 2 run difference.  Another great pitching performance and good defense kept the Red Hawks in it until the final at bat.  Congratulations to the Storm who went on to win the championship.

We are proud of how the guys turned around day two of the tournament and played with focus and heart.  The Red Hawks will be back in action Saturday, May 11th in Rocky Mount for a special one day Mother's Day tournament.

Red Hawks Open Knightdale Tournament with Loss...

The Red Hawks came out flat in the first game of the Knightdale USSSA tournament on Saturday, May 4th.  Dropping the first game to Sandlot Warriors 7-6.  In the second game against Carolina Venom, the Red Hawks could not put it together and took another on the chin losing 6-1.  Much like life, baseball is about redemption and Sunday's bracket play provides the Red Hawks with that opportunity as the first game at noon is against the Carolina Venom.  We will see if the Red Hawks can bounce back on day two in Knightdale.

Red Hawks Win 2..

The Red Hawks played in a one day charity tournament last weekend and won both games.  The Carolina Blue Sox put on the event to raise money for the Vs. Cancer organization.

In the early game the Red Hawks defeated Purpose Driven Warriors 10-9.  Strong defense prevailed in the second game as the Red Hawks took down the Blue Sox 10-0.

The guys played many different positions and had a lot of fun.  Practice has been good this week and the team is looking forward to a full tournament this weekend.

AAU Baseball Showdown Champions !!!

Congratulations Red Hawks !!   Great weekend of baseball on all aspects - hitting, defense and pitching.  4 wins in the books and the first Tournament Championship.  The bats came alive in game 1 Sunday with a 10-0 win and then the guys held on to win the championship game 12-7.  Everyone contributed at the plate, defensively and we utilized 7 pitchers throughout the weekend.  It was a complete team effort.

An Awesome Day for Baseball...

The weather was perfect for baseball today and the Red Hawks made the most of it.  Two wins this afternoon 3-0 and 14-1 behind great pitching, solid hitting and spectacular defense.  The guys had several web gems today that would have made any top ten plays highlight reel.

Excellent job by the Red Hawks today.  Two games tomorrow, first game is 12:45pm.  Looking forward to another great day of baseball.  It was great to be back on the field with the guys.

The Spring Season is Underway!

The Spring 2013 Red Hawks season is off to a fast start.  The guys a have played in an Umpire Training Tournament consisting of four games and two additional USSSA tournaments.  The team has a record this spring of 9 wins, 2 loses and 2 ties (tournament play has a time limit on games which can result in a tie). 

March 9th and 10th, the Red Hawks earned the Runner Up spot placing 2nd in the Greensboro March Madness tournament with 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie.  The only loss came in a heartbreaking defeat in the championship game.

Yesterday, the Red Hawks battled cold weather and even a little sleet to take Runner Up honors in the Southern Classic USSSA tournament.  Playing 4 games in one day was tough on the guys but they played hard winning 3 games and losing a hard fought championship game.

We are proud of the guys for the hard work they are putting in.  They work hard, play hard and are having a blast!
